Mint Mobile's $15 Price Is an Intro Rate: What You Pay After 3 Months

Mint's $15 to $30 a month is real, but the 3-month plan is an intro rate that renews at $25 to $45, and every plan is paid months ahead. Regular prices, 12-month rule.

Mint Mobile’s advertised prices are real, but they come with a condition most carriers do not impose: you pay for months in advance, and the shortest plan’s price is an introductory rate. As of October 10, 2026, Mint’s plans page lists $15, $20, $25 and $30 a month for 6 GB, 17 GB, 23 GB and unlimited data. On a 3-month plan those are intro prices that renew at $25, $35, $45 and $40; on a 12-month plan, paid $180 to $360 up front, they are the regular price. A limited anniversary offer sells any 6-month plan to new customers for $10 a month, $60 up front. This guide sets out every plan and term, what the Broadband Facts labels say the real monthly and renewal prices are, the fees and taxes on top, the unlimited plan’s data and video limits, and the arithmetic that decides whether paying a year ahead is worth it.

The quick answer

  • Four data tiers: 6 GB, 17 GB, 23 GB and unlimited, all with “Unlimited Talk & Text,” “Free Mobile Hotspot” and “Free Calling to Mexico, Canada & the UK”
  • 3-month plans: $15, $20, $25 and $30 a month, with “$45 upfront payment required” up to “$90 upfront payment required.” The label calls this “an introductory rate”; the “Regular Monthly Price” after it is $25, $35, $45 and $40
  • 12-month plans: the same $15 to $30 a month, with “$180 upfront payment required” up to “$360 upfront payment required,” and no intro period
  • 6-month anniversary offer: “GET ANY 6-MONTH PLAN FOR $10/MO. EVEN UNLIMITED.” with “Upfront payment of $60 for 6-month plan (equiv. $10/mo.) req’d. New customer offer for first 6 months only”
  • Unlimited limits: “Unlimited customers who use over 50GB/mo. may notice reduced speeds,” “Includes up to 20GB hotspot. Video streams in SD.”
  • On top: “Taxes & fees extra,” including a Recovery Fee of about $1.88 to $2.08 a month on the labels. “Early Termination Fees” are “None”

Diagram: how Mint Mobile pricing works in October 2026, four data tiers of 6 GB, 17 GB, 23 GB and unlimited at 15, 20, 25 and 30 dollars a month, the 3-month plan being an introductory rate paid 45 to 90 dollars up front that renews at 25, 35, 45 or 40 a month, the 12-month plan being the regular price paid 180 to 360 up front, the anniversary offer of any 6-month plan for 10 a month or 60 up front for new customers, and the unlimited plan slowing after 50 GB with 20 GB of hotspot and SD video, with the note that taxes and fees are extra and there is no early termination fee

How Mint prices work

Mint’s plans page sells four data allowances and three terms, “3 MONTHS,” “6 MONTHS” and “12 MONTHS,” and every price is a monthly figure that you pay in a lump. The page states the common features first: “All plans include the essential features,” listed as “Free Mobile Hotspot,” “Coverage on the Nation’s Largest 5G Network,” “Free Calling to Mexico, Canada & the UK,” “Unlimited Talk & Text,” “Award-Winning Customer Care” and “High-Speed Data.”

The price depends on the term in a way the headline does not show. Mint publishes a Broadband Facts label for each plan, and the 3-month labels say the same thing: “This Monthly Price is an introductory rate,” with a “Length of Intro Period” of “3 Months” and a “Regular Monthly Price” that is higher. The 12-month labels carry the same monthly figure as a regular price. So $15 a month is an intro offer if you buy three months and the standing price if you buy twelve.

The 3-month plans: intro price, then more

The 3-month cards read $15, $20, $25 and $30 a month with “$45 upfront payment required,” “$60 upfront payment required,” “$75 upfront payment required” and “$90 upfront payment required.” The labels give the renewal prices: 6 GB “Regular Monthly Price” “$25.00,” 17 GB “$35.00,” 23 GB “$45.00” and unlimited “$40.00.” By our math a second 3-month term costs $75, $105, $135 or $120, which is $30 to $60 more than the first.

One line in that table is odd. After the intro period, the 23 GB plan’s regular price of $45 is higher than the unlimited plan’s $40, so a 23 GB customer who renews month to month pays more than an unlimited customer would. Mint’s labels state both figures; the page does not comment on the gap.

The 12-month plans: the advertised price, kept

The 12-month cards show the same $15, $20, $25 and $30 a month, with “$180 upfront payment required,” “$240 upfront payment required,” “$300 upfront payment required” and “$360 upfront payment required.” These are regular prices, not intro rates, so the saving against renewing 3-month plans is large. By our math, a year of the 6 GB plan bought as four 3-month terms is $45 plus three renewals at $75, or $270, against $180 paid once; a year of unlimited is $90 plus three renewals at $120, or $450, against $360. The trade is paying for the year in advance with “Early Termination Fees” of “None,” and no refund mechanism described on the page.

The anniversary offer: any 6-month plan for $10 a month

The page headlines a limited offer: “GET ANY 6-MONTH PLAN FOR $10/MO. EVEN UNLIMITED.” The terms are in one line: “Upfront payment of $60 for 6-month plan (equiv. $10/mo.) req’d. New customer offer for first 6 months only; then full-price plan options available.” The 6-month cards show the cuts as “50% OFF,” “60% OFF” and “71% OFF” against the 6-month list prices of $20, $25 and $35. By our math six months of unlimited for $60 is $120 less than six months at the 12-month rate, and after the six months the page says full-price plans apply.

The unlimited plan’s limits

Unlimited is unlimited talk, text and data with three conditions in the offer text: “Unlimited customers who use over 50GB/mo. may notice reduced speeds for the rest of the monthly cycle in certain locations when our network is busy. Includes up to 20GB hotspot. Video streams in SD.” The 23 GB plan has no such speed note on the card; its data simply runs out.

Taxes, fees and speeds

Every card says “Taxes & fees extra.” The Broadband Facts labels list what Mint adds: a “Recovery Fee” of “1.88” on the 6 GB plan and “$2.08” on the 17 GB plan, a “Federal Universal Svc Fund” charge of a few cents, “Other Govt Fees” of “Up to $0.82,” and “Government Taxes” that vary by location. There are “One-Time Purchase Fees” of “None” and “Early Termination Fees” of “None.” The labels also state speeds: “Typical Download Speed” “79-357 Mbps,” “Typical Upload Speed” “6-30 Mbps,” and typical latency of 17 to 32 milliseconds.

Where the page needs a second look

Intro versus regular. The $15 to $30 figures are introductory on 3-month plans and regular on 12-month plans; the labels, not the cards, say which.

The 23 GB renewal costs more than unlimited. $45 against $40 after the intro period, per the labels.

The anniversary offer is six months only. $10 a month for new customers, then “full-price plan options available.”

Hotspot is capped on unlimited. “Includes up to 20GB hotspot,” and video is SD.

Fees ride on top. About $2 a month in Mint’s own fees plus taxes, per the labels.

No refunds are described. Paying 12 months ahead has no early termination fee and no stated refund path on the plans page.

Before you buy

This is a list of things to check, not a recommendation:

  1. Read the label, not the card. The 3-month price is an intro rate; the renewal price is $10 to $20 higher
  2. Staying a year? The 12-month plan keeps the $15 to $30 price; by our math it saves $90 on 6 GB and $90 on unlimited against renewing 3-month terms
  3. New to Mint? The $10 a month 6-month offer covers any tier, including unlimited, for $60 up front
  4. Need more than 23 GB? Unlimited’s regular renewal price is lower than 23 GB’s
  5. Heavy hotspot or HD video user? Unlimited caps hotspot at 20 GB and streams video in SD
  6. Budget the extras. Taxes plus about $2 a month in fees per the labels

How much is Mint Mobile? $15, $20, $25 or $30 a month for 6 GB, 17 GB, 23 GB or unlimited, paid 3, 6 or 12 months up front, before taxes and fees, per Mint’s page read October 10, 2026.

Is the Mint Mobile $15 plan really $15? For 12 months paid up front ($180), yes. On a 3-month plan, $15 is an introductory rate and the regular price is $25.

What is the Mint Mobile $10 deal? A new-customer anniversary offer: any 6-month plan, including unlimited, for $60 up front, which is $10 a month for the first six months.

How much is Mint Mobile unlimited? $30 a month on a 12-month plan ($360 up front) or as a 3-month intro ($90 up front), then $40 a month on 3-month renewals.

Does Mint Mobile have fees? Yes. The labels list a Recovery Fee of about $2 a month, small federal charges and taxes that vary by location; there are no early termination or one-time purchase fees.

Does Mint Mobile slow down unlimited data? After 50 GB in a month, Mint says speeds may be reduced in certain locations when the network is busy.

Does Mint Mobile include hotspot? Yes, free on every plan, with unlimited capped at 20 GB.

Is Mint Mobile prepaid? Yes. Every plan is paid in advance for the full term, and the labels say no contract is required.

Bottom line

As of October 10, 2026, Mint Mobile costs $15 to $30 a month, but only the 12-month plans hold that price; the 3-month plans renew at $25 to $45, and oddly the 23 GB renewal costs more than unlimited. New customers can take any 6-month plan for $60 while the anniversary offer lasts. Add about $2 a month in Mint’s fees plus taxes, and remember that unlimited slows after 50 GB and caps hotspot at 20 GB.
